‘Mai Bhi Bharat’ (I am India too)

Indigenous and Dalit children’s welfare

In today’s world of identities and distorted identities, we understand, acknowledge, and accept the importance of the representation of each identity and its impact since childhood. We have created a safe space for children from multiple identities to feel at home.

We listen, discuss, debate, and try to come to a common ground on the discourses of the complexities of this issue. Children learn, grow, and affect each other in ways adults may miss. Children can be good preachers of love, empathy, collaboration, teamwork, and kindness if given ample scope for their expression.

We also provide mentorship, education, and financial support for children from Indigenous and Dalit backgrounds.

Impact: We have noticed positive impact in terms of acceptance, shared space, reduced violent behaviours, and emotional outbreaks among Indigenous and Dalit children since they started to express their identities safely. Their confidence has been boosted as their realities, struggles, and life situations are neither romanticised nor judged. They started to become welcoming, more participating, and a helping hand to fellow children as well in their struggles. A safe space for every expression induced a positive impact on all children.
