GESI- Gender Equality Social Inclusion
Vidya
Empowering girls one at a time with scholarship, mentorship, and access to fundamental education and everything in between.

The majority of girls are seen as a burden to be rid of either through labour or marriage. Providing them with some financial assistance helps to delay this process. It allows girls to remain in the education system for a little longer, with the financial means to invest in books, school supplies, clothes, fees, travel, and access to coaching, among other essentials.

Under Vidya, we also provide school supplies and school kits to girls. Child marriages of a girl child as low as 14 are prevalent in India, especially in migrant, rural, and socio-economically backward communities.

Donate to ‘Vidya’ and contribute to preventing a girl from falling into the trap of child labor and child marriage.
Impact: The largest impact of GharShala on girls is having a safe, dedicated space for them. There is no such space available for girls, either physical or emotional. Girls took the best advantage of this opportunity and gave their best to learn as much as possible. They learn, they sing, they dance, they draw, they create, they are nurtured at GharShala. We have helped 12 girls to re-enroll in formal schools. Those who cannot attend formal school, for them, GharShala is their only school, and that makes over 60% of girls attending GharShala aged between 2 to 16. With our guidance, mentoring, and assistance, Poonam from the Bhill Indigenous community passed SSC, 10th standard, and became the first ever person, not just a girl, to clear SSC.
